Turbulent

Branding
Project Overview
After years of building websites for its partners without updating its own, Turbulent brought together a small internal team to refresh its branding and website for its 18th birthday.

The brief was to create a new visual identity for the company based on their most recent successful projects: large and cohesive ecosystems of products, custom-built for their clients.

The project got a Site Of The Day on Awwwards and five prizes at the W3 ceremony.

My Contributions
As the lead Art Director on the project, I took part from the very first brainstorming session about defining the company's core pillars with an external partner company (Brandlucent) to designing the website and the overall company brand book.

In collaboration with a 3D artist and a front-end developer, I started to produce multiple sketches and voxel experimentations to find suitable shapes and animations for the company's marketing message.

While building the "3D Machine", I proposed multiple branding options with various layouts, colors, and fonts, and I defined with the stakeholders what is now the Turbulent UI Kit used for all corporate communications.
3D Machines
A small 3D machine materialized each pillar of Turbulent's new marketing message. All of them were condensed in a larger machine on the website's homepage, animated in an interactive WebGL component.
Showreel
Turbulent's showreel featured on the website's homepage.
Illustrations
A series of 2D illustrations were developed to be integrated into the "under the fold" part of the website, animated with the Bodymovin/Lottie script. They were also used on various other supports like on social media, in Google slide presentations and on Turbulent merch.
Brand book
A brand book was developed with the documentation from all the assets created during the process, from the tone of communication, the fonts and colors to use, and multiple examples of the branding on different platforms.
Social
A series of templates were designed to fit every corporate message for selected social media platforms, with different color themes depending on the message (HR, announcements, portfolio update...)
Merch
A gift kit was produced for all Turbulent's employees, including a t-shirt, a cap, a mousepad, notebooks, and wallpapers for their phone and desktop screens.
